audioses.dll error

i just restarted my computer this morning an seemingly out of nowhere received this error whenever an application (YIM or that windows welcome sound) tries to make a sound, along with no sound whatsoever on my computer.

"regsvr32 audioses.dll" gives me some error about it being an incompatible module or something.

i'm using vista ultimate 32bit, sp1.
