Welcome
Several thing to try
Go to search by the start button.
Type device manager
Inside device manager look for any small yellow warning markers. If none found go to the driver for the drive and make sure that it is up to date
If that does not work, try a system restore from about 3 days before the problem began.

If that does not work, here are various suggestions from Microsoft

LOL Dont worry about that Keith, I have been doing this a long time and your answers are looking like mine already. Just exercise those fingers and I will have to type faster. You have beat me by seconds, several times already.

After you have concluded the above recommendations by Richard, you might like to go to this link, where there are a number of instructional videos on such a problem as you have. Very informative and easy to follow.

And if that fails, set a restore point and try this.

Press Windows key and R
Type regedit, and then click OK.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.
In the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
In the right pane, click UpperFilters.
On the Edit menu, click Delete.
When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
In the right pane, click LowerFilters.
On the Edit menu, click Delete.
When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
Exit Registry Editor.
Restart the computer.
