Just make sure that all boxes are checked. Then with a System Restore point first, uninstall the driver. While on the internet, turn off the computer and boot. Go to device manager, you should have a new driver without any yellow markers.
If there is not new driver, check to see if you have updates to install.
Just want to say that I'm a massive idiot, as I don't even have Vista, I have Windows 7, and should go to the seven forums and ask these questions... *hits forehead*
EDIT: Or are you still able to guide me through this thing? =)
I saw in an early post that you have Seven. I dont think this is a Vista or Seven specific problem. If we cannot get it done, you can try Seven, but I think we can get the speakers to work.
Sweet! Okay, I've set a restore point, and I'm going to uninstall the drivers now (Although they don't show any errors). Here we go!
Ok, it automatically updated the drivers to Realtek HD Audio, same driver version: 6.0.1.6602.
Clicking Configure, under Speaker Setup/Audio Channels, it still only lists Stereo. No 5.1 sound. Clicking next gives me the abillity to check "Front left and right" whereas the "Surround speakers" option is grayed out. And I still do not have the Realtek Audio Manager in the control panel, so it seems nothing have changed.
And Windows determined the drivers were up to date, too!
OK
This thread should help. Seems to be a similar problem with a number of options
Realtek HD sound problems w/ 5.1 speaker [Solved] | Kioskea.net
Well, I can't set it up for 5.1 let alone 7.1, and I only have three connectors on the back of my computer. I don't have any speaker fill options either...
I think the best thing that you can do is to post in Seven. Leave this thread and check both, this and Seven. We have one or two members here that may be able to provide a few more pointers, so dont give up on us.
I will try my luck there, thank you for your help!
Oh, btw, is there still something I should try at the ASUSTeK website?
