Problem with USB sound card

About four days ago, I bought a USB sound card because my headphone jack on my laptop isn't working. The only problem is that sounds are extremely loud and have A LOT of static. For example, if the volume is set to only 10%, it could sound like 10,000%, or like over a walkie-talkie or a phone on Speaker mode. Is there any software I can install for it? It doesn't really have a brand name so I really don't know what to look for.

I have no idea why this happened, but then again, it only cost $2.87...

Help, anyone?

Do you have at least the site you bought it from? Something to help find a driver maybe?

Also, to me static makes it sound like a problem with the 3.5mm jack on the card and not something on the computer but it's worth looking into.

This may not help much, but I got it off of eBay. It wasn't specific on drivers.

I'll be honest, I just want it to stop sounding so distorted.

The only thing I can suggest is trying different usb ports at this point. The distortion and screeching again sounds like it's probably a connection issue inside the unit itself and for the price it's probably junked.
