Solved Headphone Problem

I have an Acer Aspire and the head phones have stopped working. The internal speakers are fine, but no sound comes from the headphones and even with the headphones plugged in the laptop speakers operate with full sound. I did some deleting recently and wonder if I have made a mistake. Help please

Hello Asmodeus,

There are couple of things that can be tried to isolate the issue further. Please try the following steps:

1. Try a good known headphones to the computer and check if that works. In case you do not have an extra headphones, try the same one on a different device. For example, different computer, cell phone or iPod. It would prove the functionality of the headphones.

2. In case you have an extra headphone jack on the system, try connecting to the other port and check the functionality.

Hi Allan, I was sure it would not work but it did! Specifically, my cheap old headphones which plug in to two jack points are workijg perfectly, including cutting the integral phones and mike in and out correctly, while my brand new, expensive HP set, which plus in through a USB have stopped working and also do not cut in and out the integral speakera and mike.

So is my real problem associated with USB? Because iy worked fine for a coouple of weeks before this problem started. Your further advice would be much appreciated. Thank yoou

Hi Asmodeus,

I would suggest, setting the USB headphones as Default Playback.
-- Right Click the sound on the task bar at the right hand corner.
-- Click Sound (from the list)
-- Click the tab for Playback.
-- Select the USB headphones and click Set Defaults.
-- Click Apply and then OK.
-- Check the functionality.
