Re: New Realtek HD Audio Driver Released

Infenit101,

Did you install the Realtek driver twice and restart the computer for each install?

If you did, you might try going back to the driver from Gigabyte's website. It has the same version number.

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Driver Released

Yeah I tried both those methods. I used both Gigabytes and realteks drivers to no avail. And for some reason when I install the realtek drivers I end up seeing that same Gigabyte badge. I don't know what the deal is. Maybe it has something to do with Vista's insistence on installing preconfigured drivers.

Infenit101,

If you have audio, I do not know what else to say except to double check all the settings for something you may have missed.

Hopefully a clean install will do the trick for you. Let us know how it went please.

Sorry,
Shawn

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Driver Released

@Brink

I did the clean install and nothing happened. Same thing. I used the lastest drivers and I still end up with a Gigabyte badge in the left and no speaker fill option. It may be that the realtek drivers detect that I am using a gigabyte motherboard. I don't know but this is how my HD manager looks like.

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Driver Released

Infenit101,

It appears you just do not have a Speaker fill option for yours.

Since Realtek uses the same driver package for all their HD Audio devices, the Gigabyte is probably included in it. Are you getting sound from your speakers?

Not sure, I seem to not be having any problems. Try using the IP address link for the site to see if that helps.

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Driver Released

I appreciate all your help Brink. I am going to contact CS for Gigabyte and see what they have to say. Meanwhile I am going to be trying to get FFDShow to output my sound through all the speakers instead of just 2. Again, thanks a lot. I am liking the community already.

How to Perform a Repair Installation for Vista

I dont think I will be able to do a repair install, as my disc is an OEM version

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Driver Released

MyNameIs,

If the OEM disc is a Express installation DVD, then you will be able to.

If it is just a plain recovery disc, a clone of the hard drive, then all you will be able to do is a reinstall.

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Driver Released

I just posted this in response to another thread, but this thread here is much newer, so I am hoping someone has the answer to my problem:

"I've got the same board and I did download the Realtek drivers which installed successfully and worked perfectly. Only after rebooting a few times, the driver all of a sudden disappeared. I tried to re-install which worked fine again for a few days until after doing it successfully 10 times, this time the driver install failed saying "No driver was supported in this package". I fiddled around for some time trying to update the driver from the device manager and all kinds of other stuff. Nothing worked.

Then on 11/8, Realtek release a new version of the driver, version 1.81. I downloaded it and voila, it installed fine and worked great, only that after a few reboots, the above repeated itself on this version of the driver.

Now I am without sounds again and I have no idea, how to force Vista to accept the Realtek driver instead of the MS one. Once installed, both drivers are called "High Definition Audio Device", but only the Realtek version has ever worked for me.

Thanks,
Skeevee"
