Re: New Realtek HD Audio Driver Released

Sorry Kaire,

Do a Repair Install. This will allow you to repair your Vista installation without loosing your files, settings, and programs. Afterwards, try to install the Realtek audio driver twice again.

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Driver Released

Ken,

Did you check Speaker Fill in the Realtek HD Audio Manager?

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Driver Released

OK..Ive read all the posts on this issue. I have done a clean install of vista ultimate 64. I've installed the drivers from realteks site..1.82. I didnt put any other drivers in for the audio yet. I have the same issue as before where I cant select or use my rear speakers from the 5.1 configuration drop down box. I can select the side speakers which is dumb, but the rear are greyed out. Please help. My mobo is the Abit IN9-32x. I know itsa not the mobo becasue i can select 7.1 and the rear work fine.

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Driver Released

Hi GotKevlar,

Welcome to the forum.

That's strange, it should be the Side pair speakers grayed out and not the Rear pair speakers for the 5.1 configuration in the Realtek HD Audio Manager. You might double check to make sure that they are plugged into the right jack.

If that is not it, you might be able to compensate for it by checking Speaker Fill. You can also click on the Room Correction tab and adjust how much output is sent to each individual speaker. Check the Enable Room Correction box at the bottom to enable this and be able to adjust it. Reset, of course, will set the settings back to default.

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Driver Released

Im posting a picture of my panel. All of my speakers are functional. and if i change to 7.1, the rear work but no the side..because my speakers are 5.1..(6) speakers...not 7.1..which consist of 8 speakers. I have no cspeaker correction check box as you stated. I dont know what to do.. Sorry. I do have the box...im stupid.....ive checked it but it doesnt chnage anything. Ok..ive plugged my rear speakers into the grey plug which is the SIDE speakers. not the rear black plug. so right now the rear are making sound but i dont believe that is accoustically correct being that they are output to the side not the rear. This is nuts...when i set it to 7.1 and have my rear on the black like they sould be, the rear are rear when i run the speaker test...but not on 5.1

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Driver Released

GotKevlar,

Under Full range Speakers, check both the Front left and right and Surround speakers boxes. Test with your rear speakers plugged into both jacks.

The Enable Room Correction will be under the Room Correction tab in the bar below the volume slider. This will let you adjust the individual output for each speaker, if you want to boost the rear speakers some more.
