Vista - Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version

Hi guys,
I'm new n don't know where to start. If my problem is the same as others n have a solution kindly provide me the link n i will be glad to refer the the previous posting.

I'm using a a-bit NF-M2S motherboard with AMD 64 X2 with intergrated 7.1 channel audio. It works fine with my XP Pro. I have a dual OS installed. My Vista Ultimate x64 is freshly installed but there is no sound since day 1. The audio driver installed with no error or conflict only that there is no sound coming out. When i switch to XP it works fine. I've tried to update to the latest driver form the manufacture's website but it is still the same. I can control everything relating to the audio device like volume, surround and etc but there is nothing i can hear even @ 100% volume. Other than that everything is working perfectly. Installed was latest High Definition Audio driver n control panel for Vista x64 from manufacture's site.

Have you tried messing with the advanced settings? I know I always have to mess in the advanced part to get them working on my system.

Woow..that was fast..thanks for the fast reply. Yes tried everything until don't know what else to try...hehehehe. Tried to mess around with the ports too but no luck.

Does it finally have a headphone setting?

I installed these and they are working great, used the Vista Mic adjustments and all is well.

Hi Highlander,

It should auto detect the headphones when you plug them in, then have settings to adjust for them. Make sure your settings look like this when you click the items boxed in red below in the Realtek HD Audio Manager.

I am still using the drivers that installed with the OS microsoft 6.0.6000.16386
and I am getting great sound. Hmmm should I try the Realtek driver?

Hi Wild,

It is up to you since you are not having any problems. The latest driver version just provides fixes for problems found in previous versions. You can look at the release notes for the driver to see if the fixed problem applies to anything that you have. I have not had any problems with using them. IMO I prefer to use the latest drivers to help prevent problems before they even happen.

Actually the sound quality is better throughout the full range using SPDIF on Z5500’s s is there a download for the HD manager as well?

The Realtek HD Audio Manager is included and installed with the audio driver. It should be in the Control Panel (Classic View). You have to install the driver twice though. Once to remove the old driver, and twice to actually install the new one. Then, you have to set your audio settings again.
