Hi Joylynn,

It would be perfectly safe to uninstall Norton from the Programs and Features section in the Control Panel (Classic View). I would strongly recommend it anyway. There have been alot of problems reported with Norton and Vista not working together very well in some cases. If Norton does not uninstall cleanly, then you will need to use the Norton Removal Tool. See: Norton Removal Tool

Hope this helps you,
Shawn

TBH, I've lost my faith in Symantec/Norton products, and I'm just waiting for the subscription to expire (which will be in about January) before I change to Kaspersky.

I've been using Norton products for more than 10 years now. I think they dropped the ball with Vista by filing a lawsuit against Microsoft because of Kernel Patch Protection. Don't they realize that by preventing even a legit program from patching the Windows Kernel, Microsoft has closed the door on literally 1000's of viruses, trojans and other malware programs?

I don't really like Norton. In my own personal opinion, I think it hogs down my laptop too much, fills my computer with annoying junk (ads, spam etc.) and it costs a lot.

But, it depends on what type of computer you're using. I use a personal computer, and thus I don't care about how strong Norton's security in all that other stuff is. I use AVG Free, and it works just fine. But if you're a buisness guy and have important business stuff on your computer, it would be best to stick with Norton.
