Re: Whats the Best Antivirus/ Security Suite??

Ahem, price not an object (r u single?)-lol Don't answer that, just couldn't resist.
'MicroSoft's Windows Live OneCare' is my favourite to date.

If u have a good external hdrive, u r a couple of clicks away from total all around protection. It is a bit hands on at first but it cleans, defrags, scans, quarantines (if necessary), and backs up (Full then Expressly afterward) your system. It's definitions update often and automatically, if u allow it. Initially it cost $100, then to renew $60 per year approx.

But I used to like Norton Suite too, so u don't have to listen to me.

Good Luck!

Re: Whats the Best Antivirus/ Security Suite??

For all it seems to do, ESET Smart Security Suite is pretty light on resource usage. I tired it for free for a while.

Re: Whats the Best Antivirus/ Security Suite??

I need to get some information on Microsoft Windows onecare scanner. I downloaded the full service for window Vista performance. After the scan I got the following results Found 16 registry items, 4 cleaned, 12 errors, 0 skipped by user. It nevers tell you what or where the errors are nor does it correct then. The first time it did this I did a system restore and ran the scan again and it showed up zero errors. Any comments welcome. I am using AVG Internet Security paid version and my OS is Vista Home Premium. Thanks.

Re: Whats the Best Antivirus/ Security Suite??

First let me assure you that I have been all over the web searching for the answer. Here is the question. Using AVG 8.0 Internet Security (paid version) and every time I run a scan I get like 100 or so warnings which are cookies, adware, tracking ets. They all read about the same ie. C:\Users\William\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\Low\William@2o7{2}.txt:\2o7.net.3790cb77. How do I delete them or should I. This is the only security pakage that I am running along with Windows Defender. Guys I'm not kidding there is at least 100 questions on this and nobody gives you anything step by step on how to do it.I just did a system recovery, so everything is fresh as it came from the factory, added AVG, TuneUp Utilities and canged my Power Options and sleep mode using the step by step tutor. All comments welcome. I've got 4 mos. left and then ??????????

Re: Whats the Best Antivirus/ Security Suite??

im using NOD32.. I liked it.. its light on the system and it's like you wont even noticed it's there-no space consumption--it just worked silently with against computer intruders protecting your computer.. available on most P2P sites..;-)

Re: Whats the Best Antivirus/ Security Suite??

Hi Joe,

Are you running Spyware Dr. on Vista 64? I'm picking up my new laptop tonight, it's preloaded with Vista 64. I'm concerned my current favorite apps won't be able to run on it. I don't see a 64 bit Spyware Dr. available . SD has been a life saver on my old XP system..I would love to know if I can still run it. ?
Thank you,

Sheila

Re: Whats the Best Antivirus/ Security Suite??

oh I forgot to add a while back
that sometimes you go on a website it downloads code segments from other websites
that can have harmful stuff inside the coding and also you get the odd pop up that also downloads stuff into your hard drive some are sneaky but most the time you can tell if there's something wrong with your computers system since it slows down or plays up etc but even when I think there's nothing wrong with it I still scan my laptop anyways every week and I have everything up to date apart from norton because to be honest that doesn't pick up sh*t I had a few things on my laptop and not only did it not find it it's also a massive program and just slowed my laptop down so much yet the new stuff I got which was on Brinks tutorial for free stuff protects my laptop and hardly even touches the CPU Usage and has removed the stuff where Norton has failed to
big antivirus companies are not always brilliant and sometimes the not so well known out does the big ones but i'm just glad that my laptops ok
but ohwell it's not my computer/laptop at risk so I guess I can't change anything aslong as mine and my mums laptop is fine

Re: Whats the Best Antivirus/ Security Suite??

Hi, I just wanted to let everybody know that I got the answer after trail and error, with reference to AVG 8 WARNINGS that showes up after the scan. Just move them to the vault and if in a couple of days your computer is still operating ok, delete the little devils. Most of them will be addware, tracking cookies, etc. Overall Avg is solid and yes it does eat up the cpu's when it is running a scan. I am going to be taking a look at NOD32 and a couple of others before the first of the year. I like the suite with it's own firewall, adware and spyware plus the av that is updated every day. Comments Welcome.

Re: Whats the Best Antivirus/ Security Suite??

I just switched from ESET to Avast!. Not that I was unhappy with ESET, it worked great , but I just added a WHS into my network and ESET doesnt support WHS.

AVAST! offers a package deal for WHS + 10 client lisences, so I went with that. Its also centrally managed from the WHS

Re: Whats the Best Antivirus/ Security Suite??

Old and respected lady friend sent me this email from an AVG guarded system

Dear friend,

i would like to introduce a good company who trades mainly in
electornic products.
Now the company is under sales promotion, all the products are sold
nearly at its cost.
They provide the best service to customers, they provide you with
original products of
good? quality, and what is more, the price is a surprising happiness to you!
It is realy a good chance for shopping.just grasp the opportunity,Now or never!
The web address www . trade 9898 . com

remove the spaces if you really want to look at it

her email went like

BitDefender Online Scanner
Time 07:38:31
Files 407767
Folders 9987

Identified Viruses 4
Infected Files 6

Adware.Generic.11232
Trojan.Generic.280305
Adware.Cometsys.M
Generic.Dialer.Luca.5F35C177
Trojan.Generic.280305
Adware.Cometsys.M

sent her links for some online scans and other software, she found lots of trojans, counted over 5 different ones in the list, AVG reckons her PC is secure...right

Tried avast on another pc, might try it when nod32 expires

only using windows firewall as this PC is mostly a games PC and noted the fps dropped massively when used a third party software firewall as they seem to check every packet just to make sure...

no need for a windows home server though

Noticed that she did not have the AVG signature in the email, but maybe it an aol quirk ?
