Hello Welsh-Dragon,

It does not matter. Windows Live One Care will replace Windows Defender with it's own version anyway. You can run it before, or run the one from Windows Live One Care after.

thank you for your reply
i have tried installing one care live but keep getting error messages saying i'm not conected to the internet and to uninstall other antivirus software.which i've done but it still won't install.

Do you have a 3rd party firewall program installed? If you do, then you will also need to uninstall it to.

Thank you for your advice I finally got so cheesed off I took the pc back to the shop.I don't know what they did but all is running smoothly now.
