Windows Firewall

.... is it enough? I've read loads and loads from both sides. But I want to ask in this forum. I also have whatever weak firewall comes with my WRT54GS.

I personally think that its fine. I've never had someone try to hack my computer, never had any horrible virus outbreaks, and the few spyware problems I've come across have been dealt with promptly.

I've tried several 3rd party solutions, such as ZoneAlarm and Comodo. But I hate having to constantly make exceptions, or put it in Installation mode. I don't have to do that with Windows Firewall.

Your thoughts?

Re: Windows Firewall

Hello NerdOnFire82

Welcome to Vistax64.com Forums.

I'm no expert, but personally I think you are fine using the built-in Vista Firewall and of course you have got the option of advanced configuration of it if you so choose.

Although I use ESET's new Smart Security 4 security program which includes their NOD32 Antivirus 4, Personal Firewall, and AntiSpyware features, if ESET were not around I would have no hesitation in using Vista's Firewall.

Which version of Vista are you running?

Yes, I know where you're coming from I think with regard to Comodo's PFW. I had been experimenting with it recently with both its x86 and x64 versions and although I think it to is a very good firewall, I did find it was a little "buggy" and also a bit temperimental when it came to Windows Updates.

I hope this helps and good luck with it. Please let us all know how you get on.

Warmest Regards

Neil
