Vista Problems...

I think I may have malware/virus infection.

About two days ago, I lost the ability to connect to my wireless router. I just have a red X over the wireless network icon in my system tray. Whenever I right click on it to try to connect to a wireless network, it just sits there. Aside from that issue, explorer is sluggish and whenever I attempt to right click icons or files, it locks up or simply take a very long time for the menu to appear. I attempted to do a System Restore but whenever I started the program, I received the notification that it was already running. I've ran multiple virus scans using Avast! and it has returned no results. I also have HighJackThis but I can't right click on it to run it as an Administrator. I've tried to boot in Safe mode but I still have the right click problem. I tried to run the System Restore from using my Vista DVD but it get the same error. I've run multiple spyware scans using Spyware Terminator but no luck. What can I do?

Re: Vista Problems...

There is a better self diagnostic program than Hijack this, and will work in 64-bit O/S's where Hijack This will not:http://www.eset.com/download/sysinspector.php

Use the Complete PC backup disk image to restore your computer, Then use the File backup Ultility to restore User files that have changed since the Image was created.

Boot into Vista DVD and choose Windows Complete PC Restore, then Insert the last Backup disk (then at prompt install the first disk), or navigate to image on External drive

This assumes you used the Vista PC backup Imaging and file data Utilities, If not, you will have to restore/re-install from scratch as it appears you have corruption of Your Admin: User Account, and are now unable to elevate the Priviledge of your User account to perform Administrator tasks, and are apparently unable to perform a restore operation by booting into the Vista Disk Advanced recovery.
