Plz help!!

Ok in a lump sum just want to say thanks to any and all that attempt to provide me with help just incase I dont later!

The other day my computer was just fine. I opened a guest account so my roommate could play CoD while I wasn't home. I tried to lock him out of all the files so he wouldn't screw anything up. Wasn't sure how to do it so played with account rights a little. Thought I turned everything back to normal.

Now on my account which has admin rights now cannot load about the first 4-5 programs that are in order when I open my program files, which are like bearshare, CoD, activision, and another.

All it says is I was denied and may not have the appropriate account privelages, yadda yadda. So I right click on the folder and goto properties:security: and try to set the accounts listed as full control thinking that was the problem since I messed with those. But still nothing.

I log into the guest account and can do everything just fine other then admin rights to certain things. Like access the programs that I can't with my account, hence playing CoD.

I've tried a system restore and that failed. I've tried to take over ownership with right clicking:properties:security:advanced:ownership/rights(not sure what its called at the moment). That still doesn't work when I log in as administrator. I can't run the programs as administrator either.

Any help please!? I'm dead in the water!

Re: Plz help!!

Somehow you either changed the User Permissions, or corrupted it.

Try a system restore in Vista recovery RE (boot into Vista disk, and select repair, then system restore)

You can try to activate the hidden Admin accout and create another User:Admin Account, or if that fails, try a repair, or full re-install of Vista.
System Restore - How to (see boot option)
Administrator Account
User Profile Error - Logged on with a Temporary Profile (see step two-Delete the corrupted User account profile)

Re: Plz help!!

ouch that would be costly. I have gotten CoD to run now but lost all my saved content. I had to open the folder and reclaim the ownership back to administrators individually to each file in each folder for it to run properly. and along with that I had to select each individual file and set up the user rights for each account. HEH took like 3 hours to do it all, plus now i have about 4 more programs to do that to.

and I tried the system restore, it failed, before I wrote this thread I tried it. so that was of no help.

if anyone has anything that would make this easier then individually doing each file plz let me know.

thanks again!
