Question About MalWareBytes

I scanned today and found one malware/virus thing in my Registry Folder (it was called Hijack.*something, I forget*. I went into the Quarantine tab and deleted it.

My computer's running fine, but did that delete the infected registry file? Does this create issues, and if so can I restore it?

HijackDisplayProperties, by any chance?

It won't cause any problems if you let mbam do it's thing.

Re: Question About MalWareBytes

Yes, that was it. Is that an infected registry file or just a virus?

...And are you saying I shouldn't have deleted it?

Re: Question About MalWareBytes

No, it is just a setting that only seems to be set to 1 on 64 bit.

It looks like the kind of thing malware might do, so mbam changes it back to 0.

Registry Data Items Infected:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoActiveDesktopChanges (Hijack.DisplayProperties) -> Bad: (1) Good: (0) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.

Doesn't appear to do any harm.

You will find the mbam log here:

"C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs"

Appdata is hidden, so go to Folder Options and Show Hidden files.

This is what it looks like in the Registry :

Re: Question About MalWareBytes

Does deleting it put much less stress on the computer? Now that I've deleted it, by coincidence or not, I've noticed I can run games like Garry's Mod and Left 4 Dead without the fan even going on full, and my computer's not as hot.
