winifighter

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

My flatmate installed this stupid winifighter software on his computer. It throws up these annoying fake security alerts the whole time. The main problem is that it (or something else) is preventing me from updating any of my antivirus products or antispyware products that i'm trying to install, so I can't get rid of it!!

I've tried using the smitfraudfix program to wipe it, and i've used this in safe mode, and i still can't get rid of it.

I've tried deleting the entries in the registry etc. manually and the program is still running get rid of it, even though i've deleted all the entries i can find. I can't even find the process in the task manager, even though the process is clearly running..

Please help.

Re: winifighter

You have a virus in your system...you might be better off wiping it or running an antivirus. If you cant run the antivirus...then you have a virus and need to wipe your system.

Sorry

Re: winifighter

Yeah. I've tried that one.

I'm currently backing up all the files before wiping the disk.

Thanks for the suggestions.
