A lot of people speak highly of Norton, a lot of people dislike Norton. You will have form your own conclusions about how good / bad it is.
Personally I don't choose to use it.

Norton is a big monster lurking in your computer......
Try NOD32 (Best) Kaspersky (2nd Best)
If you bank with Barclays you can get Kaspersky cheap...Just login to Barclays!

Best intentions always!

I'm using Norton 360 now but I'll be switching to Kaspersky when the subscription ends. Time for something new.

Norton is not that bad. It runs well in Vista. Try the Norton Internet Security 2010 beta. They claim that its the best so far. Only 2 processes running taking around 20-30 MB RAM. For more finding on Norton, click here.

Never had a problem with Norton. Works as advertised as far as I'm concerned. I keep it on my daughters computer because it is good and I can set it and forget it. It caught two trojans a few weeks back. Again, worked as advertised. Some say the program is intrusive and or slows down the computer. I can not tell to be honest and I have the 2009 version I believe.

I am looking for something other than Norton 360 for a Dell Vista Inspirion 1500, my computer does run slow. And I am checking into the ones suggested above.

I guess everybody has their preferences. I use Norton IS09 on 3 systems and Kaspersky on 2 systems. They both do what they are supposed to do. And there is very little overhead. Especially Norton now does the scans during idle time. That is smart and not in the way of anything. And the user interface is very nice too. What more can you ask for.
PS: The Symantec support people are very helpful too - if you ever need them.
