Help Appreciated

"A malfunctioning or malicious add-on has caused Internet Explorer to close this webpage"

This is a 'Data Execution Prevention' related issue.
This comes up everytime I try to play an MSN Game online and closes my window. Ive looked up the pages on DEP and I am very confused. If anyone could help out (using small words....)

Thanks so much!

Hi and welcome to vista64

No problem. DEP data execution prevention is to prevent malicious code from using a memory overflow from launching an attack. DEP is located in your system control panel, under advanced system settings>advanced>... see enclosed picture. If you keep getting dep errors you want to make sure it is on for all programs, but if one, or two programs cause most of the errors (like a game) you can make an exception allowing that game to page out of memory. Forget all that.

Add whatever program is generating the errors to the exception list. the errors should stop

As a disclaimer. Make sure you have a working industrial strength anti-virus app running with current virus definitions.

Hope this wasn't completely off the wall for ya

Ken

Don't add iexplorer.exe. Add the malfunctioning program. Do the faq's say anything for the app?
