| Vista 32 Home Premium SP2 | Seek clarification on the SMB 2 vulnerability I have been hearing about the SMB 2 vulnerability and Microsoft's fix since early in the week. My question: Is this vulnerability theoretically (no attack yet) *not* a problem for users 1)with file and print sharing turned off and 2)using stand alone PC on internet? Just want to know if I should implement the Fix. Thanks. |

| Vista 32 Home Premium SP2 | Re: Seek clarification on the SMB 2 vulnerability JMH: The above referenced MS Security Advisory had more info than other notices I'd seen. This is what I was looking for in Mitigating Factors: "In Windows Vista, if the network profile is set to "Public", the system is not affected by this vulnerability, since unsolicited inbound network packets are blocked by default." Thank you for the info. |
