McAfee not registering with security centre

New computer.Keyboard not typing properly.DELL disabled background programs, side bar and upper horizontal icons on monday.

1 mth free Mcafee came with computer.

Today I checked SECURITY CENTRE and it says: Warning, the security centre has not recorded an antivirus product.
Cause: either its not installed or not recognized.
solution: verify that its installed.

Disabling programs DOESNT delete them does it? i'm sure i saw Mcafee in the files somewhere. How do i confirm for myself its still installed?
and how do i verify to security centre that its installed. there were no options to click on. Thankyou.

Re: McAfee not registering with security centre

Do you have a second anti-virus program installed?

Re: McAfee not registering with security centre

McAfee 30 day trial due to expire 5th Nov.

We have Norton on old computer that we want to transfer over once mcafee finished.
Been told norton not good but we only renewed it in June so still long way to go.

Not aware of any other security

Re: McAfee not registering with security centre

Download this McAfee removal file
http://download.mcafee.com/products/...tches/MCPR.exe

Save to desktop.

Close all McAfee Applications that you are currently running. Double-click on MCPR.exe on your desktop to launch the program. Windows Vista users will need to either be logged in as an administrator, or run the program as administrator to continue.

After the tool finishes, you will be prompted to restart your computer. Do this.

Once your computer restarts, your McAfee products will be uninstalled.

Re: McAfee not registering with security centre

Okay, please re-explain. I though McAfee was expiring Nov 5th and you wanted to install Norton (yuck). If not, please clarify.

Re: McAfee not registering with security centre

See first post again
We're on a free 1 mth trial with Mcafee that automatically was provided with this computer,so we supposedly have security-no info given on this except :30 days trial OEM listed on our order form.

When this expires we have to transfer NORTON over to take over from Mcafee-only using norton again cos we've just renewed it in june and dont want to waste the money we spent in renewing it.

But when i was noseying around in Control panel i found a section that said "SYSTEMS DIAGNOSTIC REPORT" and this is where it said that the security centre is not recognizing that we have antivirus installed.
I dont know if it was like that BEFORE Dell disabled our background programs?

Re: McAfee not registering with security centre

p.s. your answer for uninstalling mcafee is good for when we DO need to do that but if the trial expires doesnt it just "turn off"/discontine without needing to do anything?

also, who would you sugest is good anti virus to use. we dont need to continue with mcafee once norton has expired.

your answer to this is ..your pc will be un-protected and that file that lemur give you will need to use to get all the MacFee files off not just the programme if you think it will just run out then run off your pc dont work like that
