How to Repair Windows Defender or Remove it

I have
Windows Home Premium 32bit and
a serious problem with "Windows Defender"

I once attempted to get rid of Windows Defender.
The result is that my system starts with
a warning saying that some programs were blocked.
If I try to see which programs I get the following error
"Impossibile inizializzare l'applicazione: 0x800106ba...".

I could not find a way to fix it.
I search the windows site but their solutions
are not applicable since "Windows Defender" does not
appear in the list of installed programs.
Therefore I cannot uninstall it.
I also tried
"msiexec /uninstall
windowsdefender.msi /quiet /log uninstall.log"
which does nothing usefull
(empty log and no solution to the problem).

I have tried to reinstall but then it complains it
is already installed.

Is there a way to fix this problem without having to
reinstall windows vista which in my case would mean
a full format (I have a restoration vista cd which came
with my laptop).
I do not own a vista cd other than the one that
came with my laptop.

Either totally removing Windows Defender or
having it working is ok for me.

Thanks in advance for any help

Fabrizio

Hello Fabrizio,
If this has not been going on too long you could try a system restore, to a point before you tried to un-install Windows Defender.
Check to see if you have any restore points and give it a go.
Good luck and post your results.

System restore is disabled. So this is not an option for me.

I hope there is a way to install Windows Defender
or completely remove it.

How can I force Windows Defender to install in my system???

If you go to the control panel is it still listed there ?.

As I have written, Windows Defender is not listed as installed.

If I try to reinstall it, I get an error message that says
Windows Defender is part of Vista and there is no need to install it.

I would be happy if any of the following things were possible:
(1) install Windows Defender and have it work
(2) remove Windows Defender and have my system stop
complain about programs being blocked at start-up
(as I wrote: when my system is started an icon on the lower-right corner complains about some programs having been blocked but if I try to select
"Mostra o rimuovi [show or remove...]"
I get an error with "...0x800106ba...".

As I have written I have searched the official Windows site.
Their solutions are not applicable because Windows Defender
is not listed as installed and therefore I cannot uninstall it.
Their third solution does not work, either.
Any attempt to install Windows Defender fails but I
still get the warning at start-up about some programs
having been blocked.

I rewrite what I have written:
(1) I have tried the 3 useless solutions shown in the official
Windows site (2 are not applicable, the third does not work)
(2) I do not have a Windows Vista cd other than the restore cd
(3) I have try to install it but the installer complains about
Windows Defen being part of Vista
(4) I do not want to format my hard disk and reinstall Vista
(5) I would be happy if either Windows Defender is removed
and no warning appears at start-up or if Windows Defender
is installed and works fine.

Is there a way to TOTALLY REMOVE Windows Defender
or FORCE Windows Defender to INSTALL??

My Computer

if you can not uninstall it how about disable it or remove it from windows component or see what kind of application or program did you have in your system that make Windows Defender insist it can be harm your computer??! or you might choose another windows-product operating system if Vista annoying your programs:D

findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log >%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt

but nothing has changed.

It has produced an empty sfcdetails.txt file is empty
and a huge log file (cbs.log).

What should I then do to see which files I should replace?
Where do I get the correct files?

jeffrynov,
What do you think I am trying to do?

I would be happy to know how to remove Windows Defender or disable what is left of it.
For what I can see Windows Defender is not installed in the system but as I have writen (more than once)...
At start-up I get a warning (icon at the lower-right corner)
that complains about some programshaving been blocked.
If I right click on that icon and try to show the programs
I get the error with "...0x800106ba...".
If I try to reinstall Windows Defender I get an error saying that
Windows Defender is part of Windows Vista.

Why does Microsoft avoid reinstalling Windows Defender if
the system detects it is present???
Some other user might want to do it in order to fix a problem...

Please help!
