Avast vs ....

For those wondering how Avast compares to others when running Vista...

The most recent version of Avast is no longer compatible with Vista - slows it to almost a stop... for whatever reasons.

Ran it successfully for years - before the most recent update - but, no longer!

I'm now a happy AVG user.

And... yes... Vista does fly without Avast!

I have the new version of Avast and it works just fine on my machine. :D

Well... are you sure its the most recent version, just released - with updated Vista, etc.

All I know is, my HP Pavilion dv6426us, with IE8, pretty much shut down, after the most recent version of Avast was downloaded and installed.

I uninstalled and reinstalled it, and every time... the machine slowed down, until I would shut down Avast. Wouldn't even shut down quickly, consistently. And... when I finally uninstalled it and installed the current version of AVG, the "gremlins" disappeared.

Who knows... but... I'm surprised you're not experiencing the same thing, if you have all current versions of everything with all updates. Likely some difference... somewhere.
