Registry Editing Failed

I have Vista Ultimate X64 SP2 and working on an administrator (not THE Administrator)
When I tried to install some software called "Smarty Uninstaller Pro 2008", the installation was going well until I got a message:

Error creating registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\WINner Tweak Software\Smarty Uninstaller

RegCreateKeyEx failed; code 5.
Access is denied.

Abort Retry Ignore

The really frustrating thing is that I was running the installer using "Run as administrator"
function with my antivirus software guard down and also disabled Windows Defender from MSCONFIG.. so I don't know what is the service that is keeping the installer from modifying the registry..
If anyone out there knows how to disable this protection (temporarily.. I promise:p)
any help is much appreciated.. Thanks in advance

Hello Gamoholic,
Welcome to Vista Forums!

I dont think it has anything to do with security on this one. I think its just a registry issue.

First, are you sure that this program is compatable with vista and if so with an x64 system?

If it is, try running Ccleaner. When you install it, go to the registry section and do a scan then clean it out. (Make sure that you do create a system restore point before you scan)

Hopefully that will fix your problems.

Let us know,
Ben

Thank you Neverhavemoney..
Thing is, i used to run Smarty Uninstaller before I removed it to try Ccleaner 5 days ago..
It was going great and the registry cleaning improved my computer's performance a notch.. but the unistalling tool in Ccleaner is somewhat basic.. And I have a game with a lousy installer (takes forever to "gather required informatin") so I need the "Force Uninstall" in Smarty Uninstaller to remove all registry entries related to the game and manually "Shift-Delete" it afterwards..
So I was re-installing Smarty Uninstaller when that happened..
Hope that makes my problem clearer.. Thanks again Neverhavemoney
