i changed the value to 0. its either for the consent prompt behavior admin or the LUA. now, i cannot even access the program. i was following another forum which said that i shud do that. which i cannot comment onto now it said that by doin so, i can access programes without having to type the password. now any app that needs an admin password cannot be accessed.this means i cannot access regedit as an admin to change the settings back
the message reads as so :" this program is blocked by group policy. for more information, contact your system administrator."
so now i totally cannot access any programs which require an admin pass.i cant uninstall, install, delete and do anything ease which requires admin pass.
please help me

i tried both ways. to no avail. in order to change in safe mode or run the program, i need the admin password which is now disabled. the same message is shown to be sure , i also changed the value of consent prompt behavior user to 0. by right consent prompt behavior admin should be 2, lua 1 and consent prompt behavior user 1 correct?. now lua and consent prompt behavior admin are 1 and 2 respectively but consent prompt behavior user is still 0. any other ways?

Hi,

This is my speciality! First, let's try the simple things, Safe Mode.

See if you can access regedit from Safe Mode.

If not, download and run the portable Re-enable it 2.0.0.1 Use it to either re-enable or run regedit then change the settings back. http://http://www.softpedia.com/get/PORTABLE-SOFTWARE/System/Re-Enable-Portable.shtml

If this does not work, I have plenty more suggestions.

Hi,

I don't know how much functionality you have lost, but I have the next two sugesstions for you, to try to launch a process as the Local System (I doubt this will work, but will not take very long), to use a bootable regedit to change the values back to what they should be.

1) Download PSTools and extract all the files into your System32 directory except for pdh.dll, unless pdh.dll is NOT already in your System32 folder.

Open a Command Prompt (don't try to elevate it) and type:

"psexec -s -i -d regedit"

I somehow don't think this will work.

2) Make a BartPE or VistaPE Bootable CD (you will probably have to do this from another computer) If you have any problems with making the CD, or you have an OEM CD, tell me and I will help you. If you do have ANY errors, you will need to fix them before use. If you have an OEM CD, tell me which make (Dell, Acer, HP etc.) and whether you used VistaPE or BartPE (the XP equivalent)
Bart's Preinstalled Environment (BartPE) bootable live windows CD/DVD
VistaPE — Home

Once you have done this, you need to edit the registry. See this nice tutorial, but obviously edit the consent prompt behavior admin value, not the WinLogon value.
How to edit the registry offline using BartPE boot CD ?

Good luck,

Richard

I wonder if you can help...
I changed the value of enable lua to 0, and reboot the machine
Now, my admin password doesn't work (note: i am pretty sure what the password is but the system keeps telling me its a wrong password...)
