Vista Business, Remote Desktop and Trend Micro

Hello,
I have a client who is running Vista Business edition, and wants to be able to set up a VPN to their home. I am able to create and connect the VPN, but now I'm trying to enable Remote Desktop via the System properties, but it will not let me as it says that Windows Firewall is not running. I'm pretty sure that windows firewall was disabled when Trend Micro was installed.
How can I get remote desktop enabled? Or do I not need to? I've tried enabling the windows firewall service, but it will not let me. Dependent services for windows firewall are running, and in the event viewer, I get the following error message:
windows firewall service terminated with service-specific error 6801 (0x1A91)

I've seen posts where you can enable 3389 within Trend Micro firewall, and I can do that, but is that sufficient to get remote desktop to work? I realize it opens the firewall to allow it, but does it enable the functionality within the Vista operating system to allow remote desktop.

At this time I do not want to remove Trend Micro (client wants minimal changes). Was hoping to be able to get this working by somehow enabling the windows firewall service, but still having it off.

Any ideas? I've searched a lot on this problem, and have tried some things to enable the firewall service, namely the netsh firewall reset command, but that didn't work.

Thank you in advance!

For those of you interested, I resolved the problem. There were a few changes I made. I went into the registry to force the registry setting for RDP to allow connections. I also messed with Trend Micro a bit. It seems that I needed to shut off and restart the firewall to get the change to take effect. It doesn't surprise me if that's how it's supposed to work, it just would have been nice to see a disclaimer "please restart firewall for changes to take effect".
Oh well, all is good.
