problem : System restore disabled by group policy. i have vista home basic so gpedit.msc dosent work...

This is what i've tried
1. Click Start, Run and type regedit.exe and press Enter
2. Navigate to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Policies \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ SystemRestore
In the right-pane:

  • Delete the value DisableConfig
  • Delete the value DisableSR
3. Exit the Registry Editor.
In Windows XP Professional, you can accomplish the above using Group Policy Editor as well.
1. Click Start, Run and type GPEDIT.MSC
2. Navigate to this path:
-> Computer Configuration
--> Administrative Templates
---> System
----> System Restore
3. Set Turn off System Restore to Not Configured
4. Set Turn off Configuration to Not Configured

Problem is, itried to delete the DisableSR but it dosent delete and Disableconfig isnt even there..

HELP PLEASE

Did your Vista come pre-installed on your computer? What brand of computer, if it did?

It will fit on cd easily, or you can put it on a flash drive, instead.

If you don't have access to any of those:

As the iso is small, you can boot the iso direct off the HD - suggest you put it on another partition and use Easybcd beta to put the boot menu entry in for you.

Very easy,

Just click Add new entry, click the Iso boot tab , select run from memory in the drop-down.

Then browse to the iso you downloaded and click add entry.

Restart the pc and select Neosmart isoboot from the menu.

This is beta- don't worry I have tested it and the isoboot function you want works well. You need to sign up to the Neosmart forum to d/l - it's free.

I just checked that and it worked :) This isn't my account, and I have certainly not taken somebody elses. I got it off the following website, where users can upload their free website credentials so that others can log in when they need to:
