Hi Raidogreat,

Welcome to Vista Forums!

First let's see if it's the CD or the Drive or System. Do you have another bootable CD? If not, let's make one that may even prove useful later.

You can make a bootable Recovery Disk using http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/ along with burning software like: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html and, of course, a blank CD (perhaps made on a different computer as I'm not sure we can trust this CD drive).

To boot to the CD you may need to change the BIOS to make the CD-drive first in the boot sequence. To do that, wait for the screen that tells you the F key to push to access the boot menu or boot setup. Push it quickly. Make the changes, save your work, and exit. Put the CD in the drive and reboot. When prompted, push any key to boot from the CD.

If the new CD boots fine, then the problem is most likely the other CD. If neither CD boots, then we'll have to look further into the problem, but given the infection situation and the possibility that might be the cause, the next step should be to address that.

Download, install, update, and run Malwarebytes http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php in a full scan. It will create a report log. Please attach a copy of that log to your next reply.

Download, install, and run Hijack This HijackThis - Trend Micro USA (the full version - not the beta). It too will create a report log. Please zip that log and attach a copy of the zipped folder to your next reply.

After that, someone much more skilled than I am will assist you with the infection. Having this information available will help her to get a running start on identifying and solving the problem. Once that's resolved, if the CD issue still remains, someone else (perhaps me) will return to assist you with that - knowing that it isn't caused by the infection.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!
