Admin access denied: Complex

Hello,

I posted this on Answers.microsoft but was told that this issue is a bit more complex than usual so.. here it goes.

I'm having an issue where I can't access my regular account which has full admin rights. At first I was having an issue where I could access this account but I didn't have access to C drive. I went to the forums and followed the Net User Administrator/Active:yes instructions... the Admin emerged but then it asked for a password, I tried my regular account password and nothing. Then I tried to log back into my regular account with my password and it's not working anymore. I can't log into safe mode or anything. I get some message that says "Windows cannot connect to SENS network."? :eek:I only have access to guest account which has little control. What do I do? I really need help, if there is anyone who can help I'd appreciate it.

Q.

P.S. I'm really trying to avoid a complete system restore/repair because all my school work is in that account and I'll be screwed.

Flush your DNS cache and restore MS's Hosts file.

Copy and paste these lines in Note pad.
@Echo on
pushd\windows\system32\drivers\etc
attrib -h -s -r hosts
echo 127.0.0.1 localhost>HOSTS
attrib +r +h +s hosts
popd
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
netsh winsock reset all
netsh int ip reset all
shutdown -r -t 1
del %0

Save as flush.bat to your desktop. Right click to run as Administrator. Your computer will reboot itself.

Next, download DDS from one of these links:
Mirror 1 Mirror 2 Mirror 3
  • Disable any script blocking protection
  • Double click the dds icon to run the tool.
  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
    1. DDS.txt
    2. Attach.txt <--this will be minimized in the task tray
  • Save both reports to your desktop.
Include the contents of both logs in your next reply.

Hi Jacee,

Thank you so much, I have to say i'll follow all instructions to the letter but I have a question. Call me a noob but, do I do this with or without the asterisks?

Looks scary... and did I mention that the computer doesn't allow me to run certain programs or to delete certain things?

Does that make a difference?

Also, how do I disable script blocking and what if my computer doesn't let me do it?

Sorry to sound like such a know-nothing but..I really do appreciate the help. :)

Hi Jacee,

Sorry about that, I was looking at the message in my email notification and it had asterisks in it. I do apologize. I'm doing the steps now so I can get the read out. Sorry for the misunderstanding. :)

Hi Jacee,

Just tried to run the Flush.bat file and it states that I don't have the appropriate permissions to run the file.

:( Now, what do I do? Do I have any recourse?

Hi Jacee,

Yes, I did that too which is one of the reasons why I'm posting on this forum. When I previously followed the instructions to get the submerged Admin.. when it emerged it asked for a password. How weird is that? So, I couldn't get into it and then when I tried to get back into my regular account my password didn't work. Have you ever heard of such? :(

Q

Okay this is an update, I was able to do the flush.bat, I just doubleclicked not ran as Admin. but I don't know how to disable scripting? How do I do that?

Q. :)

These logs need to be run as Asministrator and open in notepad ....
Are you able to run Malwarebytes' Anti-malware?

download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, but rename it to Quequegs.exe and then save it to your desktop
|MG| Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.50.1 Download

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. Copy and Paste that log into your next reply.

If this opens in .doc or word ... then you will need to fix your file associations so it will open in Notepad!

Hi Jacee,

I appreciate all your help, but I really must say that one of the problems I'm having is that I'm not able to run anything as administrator. I've been completely locked out of my regular account and i can only access the guest account.

Does this mean, I'm screwed?

My Computer

Hi QueQuegs,

So at the moment you have no access to an Administrator account on your system. That's a serious problem for which there aren't a lot of solutions we can offer.

For your current Administrator account where the password no longer works, perhaps the following tutorial will help: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/102005-reset-user-account-password.html.

Without an accessable Administrator account, you can't create another Administrator account - so that's out.

With an active Admistrator account, booting into Safe Mode is not going to automatically activate the built-in Administrator Account (and without a working Administrator account, you cannot enable the built-in Adminstrator account). And you can't delete the current Administrator account (to allow the built-in Administrator account to activate in Safe Mode) unless you have a working Administrator account to do so (otherwise it won't allow you to make changes) - plus you'd want to backup your user profile and data first or it may be lost when you delete the account.

If the above doesn't help, I'm afraid the only choice left is a clean install or a restore to factory conditions (depending on how your computer is setup and what options you have available). Before you do that, you should be able to backup your data using the normal backup process or possibly Easy Transfer or booting to an Ubuntu disk to access the information, or slaving the drive to another computer to access the information. If you need any assistance with this, please don't hesitate to ask and we'll provide details on whichever process you need to use.

I hope the above works to restore your Administrator account with administrative priviledges. If so, enable the built-in Administrator Account (if it wants a password, try leaving it blank and just clicking OK - that's often how it is setup). If you can't, then try to follow Jacee's instructions with your regular Administrator account as best you can and post back how it's working (or if it's working). I also recommend as soon as it is working (if you get to that point) that you create two additional Administrator accounts just for emergencies and backups (even if you never actually use either of them). If you continue to have trouble with your account but were able to create another Administrator account (but unable to access or enable the built-in Administrator account), try using that newly created account instead to run the procedures to see if it makes any difference.

If you're able to restore access to your Administrator account but it operates as if it has no administrative priviledges, then you're only option remains a clean install or restore to factory conditions since you'll be unable to do almost any of the procedures Jacee would want to try without administrative priviledges and even then, those procedures don't often resolve this particular problem anyway.

Good luck!
