Solved Malwarebytes problems....

I posted a thread last week asking if anyone knew something I could use for free like Malwarebytes b/c my free trial was ending...they told me I must have downloaded the Purchase version with the "free trial first"...so I uninstalled it....(it had about 4 days left to expire)...and I re-installed it again ....(what said FREE VERSION) well now it just expired again today???

Is this going to keep happening if I keep reinstalling it??? When I would go to the Malwarebyte site to install it would always send me to a different site to download...It was very hard to find the actual "download"....So is there something I am doing wrong that this free trial keeps expriring???

Any help I would really appreciate....

Major Geeks as well as the website that I suggested should both serve your needs. If you use either you should not have a problem. Did you do something differently?

Actually Major Geeks was where I downloaded from and it just expired with not even having it for 1 week....I just installed it again from cnet. this time...it was exactly the same as the one from major geeks......I just dont understand why it kept expiring....

If you used Major Geeks and you had a problem, somehow you clicked on a trial offer. If you now used CNET, and you used the top link, you should be ok.
If you need to do it again, read the fine print. You MAY have been given an option to tick off free, etc at the time of the download. Remember, they want to make money, so be careful.

Could it be after a week, they ask you to pay for the full version, but the free version still works?

Uninstall MBAM using RevoUninstaller (remove any leftover files found) then try installing MBAM

Well I thought I uninstalled it 15 min ago...and re installed at cnet...I just re booted and malwarebytes popped up saying "your subscription has expired" meanwhile when I had uninstalled it earlier this morning it was gone??

Hold the
windows_key.JPG
key and press R to bring up the run box.
In this box, copy and paste the following

Code: 
cmd /c regedit.exe /e %USERPROFILE%\Desktop\tom982.txt "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run"

Then press OK. This will create a text file on your desktop called tom982.txt. Open this and copy and paste its contents into your next post please

before I do that....I used the uninstaller link you provided above...but I hit restart after and not SCAN.....so I dont know if it worked??? I dont see it under the control panel....tho it think it was uninstalled?

Yes, it would have uninstalled it. I wanted to clean the remnants from the installation though.

Do the thing I previously suggested then once you've posted the log, try doing this:

3. Clear Temp Files

  • Download TFC (By OldTimer), to your desktop.
  • Save any open documents, then close any active programs/windows
  • Right click on the file, and select Run As Administrator
  • When it opens, click Start to being the process
  • A reboot is required upon completion of this, if this is not done by TFC then do so manually

Are you still getting this message when you reboot? If so, can you upload a screenshot for us to look at?

I've got the Pro version of MBAM, but even when I had the free version I didn't get any of the kind of messages you've been receiving.

This is NOT a "fresh" version...if by FRESH you mean one I haven't downloaded...I already did the Major Geek one...you posted I can never find the link there. Its eaiser at cnet...

Try the CNET, if you are more comfortable. Read any fine print. Be sure you are always with the free version. I used the CNET without any problem.
