I have been contaminated by this on Firefox and have tried everything-IOBIT uninstalling including registry clean, uninstalling and re-installing Firefox, to no avail the damn thing is still hi-jacking my Firefox Homepage. Anyone had experience of this and can advise?

Thanks in advance,

Yard Dog,

Many thanks for the quick response.

I check my computer daily on AntiVista, Malwarebytes and Threatfire. No sign of problems.
I downloaded and scanned the TDSSKiller-- no threats.

So what is my next step seeing as how each time I install Firefox 9.0 is comes up with this Babylon home page?

Thanks in advance,

LIT

Well, i checked Bleeping Computer, they have no known issues with the Babylon name, although i did see some Rogues that had that Babylon file name. So, and it appears to be related to an apple application program, that being said, you could, if you are experienced enough, make a restore point, and using start> run > type regedit> click ok> edit > click find> type babylon or Babylon > click Find Next and delete it from registry files that way, Highlighted items are Babylon, press F3 for it to find more til none exist. Do you feel bold enough to try that ? If it finds it, you right click each entry and select delete, F3'ing til you see no more of it. Very important to have a restore point , in case you make an error.

ThreatFire is controversial and has been known to cause problems. I'm not a malware expert but on another forum I was provided with this link: Review of ThreatFire

YardDog,

Could not enter restore point and tried twice with two different dates! Aint got the cojones to go into that registry, no sir!

townsbg

I have been using Threatfire for years with no problems so I know this is not the cause of the problem.

I really appreciate all the advice. I'm sure the problem lies in the Firefox add on in the tool bar but I can not find a way to find it and delete it. It is so frustrating!

I have tried twice to create System Restore but each time it produces a pane telling me it was unsuccessful. I have used SR many times over the years so this is a new one to me!

Are you trying to create one or use one? Creating one is useless to your situation.

Not being an expert on computers I thought they were both the same thing.
As I understand it, creating a system restore point takes you back to a point before changes had occurred. Ipso facto no problem therefore exists. Or is that too simplistic an interpretation?

With system restore you can make a point, now. You can go back to it later if you have problems

or

You can just go back now to a point that was made earlier

Is clearer now.

I think so. Any idea why Windows would not, on two seperate occassions, allow me to create a restore point. One was the day before the problem occurred, the other four days before.

That sounds like it may be malware, but you were already directed to use Malwarebytes and and anti virus, above, by Yard dog.

Check the space on your hard drive, do all drives have plenty of space available?
Just a guess, but it may be conflict with other software. If that is the case it is usually your anti virus. Uninstall and use Microsoft Security Essentials.

Have you tried to use a restore point? Creating a restore point just copies some files to be used if you wish to recover from a problem but you actually have to use it before it will make any changes. Please try to do that. Actually I wouldn't create a restore point because if you do the new restore point might very well get infected.
