Solved Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file...

Hey guys,

I've been searching for a solution for this problem for a while and none of the fixes I found ever worked for me. Lately whenever I try to install software some of them keep giving me the same error.

Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item
.

I've ran scans and nothing has been found, I am an administrator and I do have full permission and I tried disabling my anti-virus and firewall (AVG and Comodo). However, I can install programs in the safe mode but again when I switch to the normal system I keep getting the error despite programs being installed. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

If you truly have a permsission problem, this administrator account will solve it.
It is the same for Vista and Seven

Built-in Administrator Account - Enable or Disable - Windows 7 Help Forums[2]=User Accounts
If this solution does not solve the problem, we will look into changing your permissions, but you said that you already have full permission
Another method to resolve the problem is to try to download while in clean boot, if it works, follow the clean boot instructions to find the specific cause.

If you work in safe mode, it should work in clean boot. If it does work in clean boot, put the services back one at a time to find the cause.

It turns out that the firewall was the issue, despite adding exceptions and trusted files to its database. Hopefully it will work now. Thank you so much for your help and quick response, I really appreciate it!
