Looks like it is, but when you click the download link - you get this:

Attachment 10925

Well, that stinks. It has been removed.

Thank you for the update SIW2.

Step#1: Boot into WinRE using the Vista DVD.

Step#2: Click Command Prompt

Step#3: Now type
net user <user account> *
Press Enter

Step#4: It will ask for a new password - Enter the new password
Press Enter

Step#5: It will then ask to confirm the password - Confirm the new password
Press Enter

This will reset the user password..
This method will never work.Command net user runned in WinRE or DVD Vista only serve accounts from point of view WinRE not from system on hard drive.Type net user in WinRE -you only see accounts Administrator and Guest - but these accounts are from DVD Vista level not from system on hard drive
Even more -other commands concern permissions runned from WinRE like icacls, takeown (Windows 7 only) only change permissions from WinRE level not from system on hard drive level

Re: Reset User Account Password

One explanation:I don't need help -I only test,like you

This advice work fine - but I have warning

you have:
Quote:
Click Command Prompt option.
Type the following command:
C:
CD Windows\system32
ren cmd.exe cmd.old
ren magnify.exe cmd.exe
ren cmd.exe magnify.exe
Restart computer
but should be

Quote:
Click Command Prompt option.
Type the following command:
C:
CD Windows\system32
ren cmd.exe cmd.old
ren magnify.exe cmd.exe
ren cmd.old magnify.exe
Restart computer
restore back cmd.exe and magnify.exe you have correct

But I still have objections to your method here:
look

There are only accounts from DVD Vista.I understand the symbol (*) by account name is important...My account on VirtualPC is John.I typed as you described (I think)

And ?
I can sure you the result is the same on real machines,PC and notebook Fujitsu-Siemens.I tested by using DVD Vista Business OEM in box PL and DVD Vista from Fujitsu-Siemens EN - the result is always the same.
DVD Vista don't see accounts from hard drive.

EDIT
BTW.This method also work perfect in both links http://www.vistax64.com/851487-post2.html
