| Ultimate x32 | Re: Fonts - Change Default Hi Brink, Nice job. The explanation is easy. It is very visual and they are nice colors too :-) If you want to get deeper, you may want to take a look there: Fix Windows Vista’s Fonts! ~ Chris Pirillo The registry fix is complete, but maybe a little harder to grasp for the beginners? Anyway do the usual registry backup (save your hives!!!) before to install the new keys. NB: because many people complained about the change and did not have any backup, the original hives are even for you to download on a page if you do something wrong. If you don't find it, PM me and I will direct you. I am not related with Chris Pirillo in any manner. This is not advertisement of some sort. Cheers everyone. |

| Ultimate x32 | Re: Fonts - Change Default There is ONE main difference between these 2 registry edits I try to clear up: - Brink tutorial only changes the default system font = limited visual effect (especially under XP), BUT respects the external applications (Microsoft Office, Adobe, etc.) configuration. - Chris fix changes the default system font and the mapping font of the OS & the APPLICATIONS = full visual effect, BUT some caveats. Wait, don't panic! I explain the changes with an example: Office 2003 word's default template uses New Times Roman pt12, you will get Segoe UI instead (it's easy to make a new default template with your styles anyway.) Acrobat Reader 8, 9, you will be able to read your .pdf but they will not print, unless a. to print them as a picture (bad...) Or b. the font used in the PDF is not a font the .reg file substitutes for Segoe UI (i.e. Arial, New Times Roman, Thaoma, etc.) (Unlikely with 99.9% of the documents) You have got the info, now that's a matter of taste, needs and choice. |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: Fonts - Change Default I posted on this forum a loooong time ago, when i was having issues with my font changing in vista. The issue was the taskbar and dialog box fonts not changing to verdana like the rest of the fonts. I scoured the registry for days, and eventually managed to get it working, but i've forgotten what i did, and know i've had to reinstall Vista, im stuck. Has anyone managed to figure this out yet? I thought i'd posted my solution on here, my account says i made two posts, but only one post is visible? Any help is greatly appreciated. Ben |

| Ultimate x32 | Re: Fonts - Change Default You go there Reverse Vista Font Fix - Vista Horizons It will revert almost all (if not all) your changes to the default vista font settings (this is not for you, but it is related) Beforehand, backup the full 5 keys. Do not backup the keys as (.reg) files, but as hives (*.*). In the case the result is not what you are looking for you can get back to your settings and give it a another try. |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Fonts - Change Default Hello O'Connel, and welcome to Vista Forums. Since this has just happened, then you might do a System Restore instead using a restore point dated before this happened. Hope this helps, Shawn |
