| Member | Re: Personal User Shell Folders - Move Location Thank you Brink. Does this means is several users are using one PC, it is possible to assign the "my documents" folder for one user on a specific drive (say E and to another drive for another user (say F and the computer would handled it by the log on ? Would you know if there is such a thing also in XP (i'm running several os due to soft compatibility with vista). Regards |

| Administrator | Re: Personal User Shell Folders - Move Location Hello Calabrache, I'm not certain with XP. Yes, since each user account has it's own set of C:\Users\(user-name) folders, you can change each account's user folder locations to that location if you like. They will be handled the same per account as if they were still at the default user folder location. Hope this helps, Shawn |

| Newbie | Re: Personal User Shell Folders - Move Location Hi there.... I have used this process to direct my shell folders to my D:drive (2nd Partition) It has worked fine apart from on the "Desktop" Folder. It created the desktop shell folder on D drive as you have stated but also created another normal yellow folder called "Desktop" in my username folder on "C"Drive. When I restore it back it goes back fine. Then the folder on d drive reverts to a normal yellow folder called New Folder (6) (the one I created) as expected but I cannot delete it...."This action cannot be completed as the folder is open in another program" please help..... |

| Administrator | Re: Personal User Shell Folders - Move Location Hello Angelica, and welcome to Vista Forums. Backup any contents of this folder that you do not want to lose to another location to be safe. Next, double check using OPTION THREE in the tutorial below that the Desktop folder has the default location for it in the registry. Personal User Folder - Restore Missing Folder If it still will not let you and you have subfolders in it, then delete the subfolders one by one and see if you can delete it afterwards. If all else fails, try Unlocker to delete the folder. Hope this helps, Shawn |

| Newbie | Re: Personal User Shell Folders - Move Location Excellent Tutorial. As a new Vista user, this forum overall is really helpful. So I was able to change the loaction of all the personal user folders to a larger RAID drive. Worked exactly as described in the tutorial with one exception. When I changed the location of Desktop using method 1 above, it moved the green folder, but then immediately put a yellow Desktop folder back in the original location. What is that telling me and what should I do, if anything about it? Thanks...David |
