How to Fax without a Fax Machine in Vista

Information
If you have a scanner, a printer, but have no fax machine! for sure... you have to plug your fax line to your computer (line card needed), if your fax line is plugged on other computer, you can connect to a fax server on your network (make sure you know the server name)

_______________________________________

1) Go to start, type in windows fax in the search bar, then select <Windows Fax and Scan>

2) Click <New Fax>, Choose your fax modem or server,
a) If you have a modem that is built in or connected to your computer , Click <Connect to a fax modem> and type in a name you want for your fax (any name).

b) If your computer connects to a fax server on your network, click <Connect to a fax server on my network> and type in your server name.

3) Then choose which way you want to receive faxes
a) If You want to receive faxes automatically, choose <Answer automatically> (don't worry you will never receive viruses)

b) If you want to receive faxes manually, choose <Notify me> (answer automatically is recommended)

c) If you are not sure ,then choose later (you have to change the setting manually after or later)

4) Done! You can now create a new fax!

Tip
(To delete the fax account, click <Tools>, select <Fax accounts>, press <remove>)
