Unfortunately, I have the same problem, and I guess mine is more serious
When I go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList, I see these files:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\S-1-5-18

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\S-1-5-19

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\S-1-5-20

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\S-1-5-21-3311769753-1040648544-104229229-1000.bak

There is no a second file that its name is "S-1-5-21-3311769753-1040648544-104229229-1000" and ends without .bak.

Besides, I could not change the State value (8000).

I deleted ".bak" and changed the value of 8000 into 0. But, I saw, after restarting, I could not change anything.

I tried to "startup repair" and "system restore", but both did not work.

When I go to "control panel>user accounts" I can not click "manage another account" or any other options.

When I try to enter "C:Celal" (my user profile, it does not open. I can open "Celal>documents", it is empty.
So, I can not reach my files in my profile.

I use a toshiba laptop (satellite m305-s4030) with Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit.

Please help me!!! I need to reach my files to finish my master thesis.

Did you use a restore point dated before this error?

Did you try step 7 (OPTION ONE) with this?

You might see if you can create a new administrator account to access the files from where they are saved at while logged on that account instead.

I used a restore point dated before the error, and I completely follow the 7th step. But, they did not work either.

I can not create a new administrator. I tried many options, but most of them did not work because I am in safe mode.

Celal,

Since you are trying to save your files, then you can do a Repair (upgrade) install. If the file are missing afterwards, then look for them at C:\Windows.old.

I have the same problem since yesterday. When try to log in to mine pc, i get the same message.
And I have only 1 account, so I am not able to log on mine pc.

Is it possible that someone has changed something to mine profile ( hacking!?) and how can I solve this problem. thank you

Hello Eren, and welcome to Vista Forums.

It's usually caused by some form of corruption instead. You can try step 2 (STEP ONE), or System Restore as described in the TIP box at the top of the tutorial to see if they can fix this for you.

Thank you for your answer Brink.
Someone did call us around 3 hours in the night. That is almost never happened and said stupid and strange things . What I thought is that the person has done this ( he is informatics engineer). And I think this person got some information from mine notebook. ( i talked to this person also via msn, he send some images, and mp3, and he knows mine IP adres).
because he is engineer,I think this is possible

I could not found the safe mode option in mine notebook, I think i will try to save the ducuments in the harddisk and than format the notebook.
