Re: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.

Eren,

If you suspect your system may have been compromised, then a clean reinstall may be in order to help be extra safe.

I would not worry about you IP address being known. That is something that is always broadcasted, like caller ID, when your on a network and cannot be stopped. It will either be your ISP, a proxy, router, or your computer's IP address depending on how your network is setup. If you hover over the small computer icon in the top right hand corner of a post, you will see the IP address.

Since you have a OEM laptop, you may find the System Restore option in the Advanced Boot Options screen after you select the Repair option.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Re: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.

Hi all,

a few weeks ago I had the "User profile service..." problem, but was very happy to be able to solve it with the tutorial. My system was working fine again.

This morning, when starting up : absolute desperation !!!! Same message appearing again !
When rebooting, fortunately the problem had disappeared.

Now I don't know what will happen at next startup, but I think there is a strong chance the problem will pop up again.

Although I was (and still am) very happy with the solution set out in this thread, I don't think it is normal that we have to solve this problem every now and then.
Does anybody know what is really causing the problem ? Is there a structural solution available ? I already looked at the Microsoft website, but they don't seem to have a fundamental solution neither....

Re: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.

Hello DJ Spiker, and welcome to Vista Forums.

It seems that your user profile may still have some corruption that could not be repaired. It is not normal to have to repeat this every so often. I would recommend that you backup anything that you do not want to lose to be safe. Afterwards, see if creating and using another administrator account ends this error for you. If not, then you may need to do a clean install to fix it.

Re: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.

I started having this problem when I added a new profile. Originally there's my main user admin account and the guest account. I get the error on the new profiles I added. The main admin and the guest account works just fine. I tried to follow both options to try to resolve the issue but I'm having problems on both.

For Option one:

I don't have a .bak on both (2) of the S-1 under profile list.

For Option two:

I'm checking the ProfileImagePath for the two S-1 and I recognize that both are my admin and guest account respectively. I don't have a S-1 file for the newly added profile.

Please help. Thanks...

Re: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.

Hello Mannyboy, and welcome to Vista Forums.

If this has happened not to long ago, then you might be able to do a System Restore using a restore point dated before the problem started to fix it.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Re: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.

Thanks for the reply Shawn,

It's been a while since that happened. I will have to re-do a lot of stuff if I do that. I though of repairing Windows Vista but I only have my OEM Recovery Discs. Any other ideas? If none I guess I'll do the system restore.

Thanks.

Re: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.

Having had this problem and been directed by many sites to this forum, I was a little bummed when the recommendations here didn't fit my version of this problem. In my case, my primary account works fine. The problem occurs when I create a new account in Vista. The account appears to create fine, but I get the error when trying to log in using the newly created account. No user directory gets created and no registry entry made for the new account. Restoring wasn't an option for me and repairing didn't work either. The general consensus was that a full reinstall was required.

Being that I didn't want to go through the hassle of a reinstall, I kept digging until I discovered the source of my problem and was able to fix it. It's a lengthy explanation which I've fully documented on my blog.

Hope this helps those of you with this problem but without the .bak registry key issue.
