You can also try doing a System Restore at boot using a restore point dated before you got this error to see if it may be able to fix this for you. Hope this helps, Shawn |

A System Restore will only affect Vista system files, installed programs, and drivers that were installed after the date of the restore point. It will not affect your user files (ex: documents, data, etc...) or settings. It may be able to fix this error for you. ![]() Hope this helps, Shawn |

| Vista Home premium 32bit | Re: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded. Hi there - So, I found this tutorial after I'd done 3 system restores. I had also done at least 3 scan disks. I was finally able to log onto my account, but it was a temporary account, and according to the hard drive capacity, my existing files were still there. I downloaded recuva to find files - no luck. I did option one, was able to rename the 2 files successfully, shut down computer and rebooted, crossing my fingers...now I am back to where I was yesterday morning when this mess first started - user profile service failed log in. I can start in safe mode. I cannot do a system restore - gives me the message that no system restore point is available, and it will not let me create one. Should I try option one/two again in safe mode? I'm about ready to say the heck with Vista and install XP... Any feedback is appreciated...thanks~ |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded. Hello FancyNancy, and welcome to Vista Forums. Your user files may still be in the C:\Users\(user-name) folders. Since it is booting you to a temporary account, then you might give this tutorial below a try instead. User Profile Error - Logged on with a Temporary Profile If it still does not help, then your use account may be corrupted beyond repair, and a reinstall may be needed. ![]() Hope this helps, Shawn |
