Re: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.

sorry for the week long delay but i got my computer through my college and they have all the vista cds and whatnot so they mailed one home for me. I tried system restore from boot with the cd and left it to run all night but its still going, saying its restoring my files. I also tried the system repair with the cd but it couldnt find any problems to fix. Any suggestions?

Re: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.

Latte252,

I would say it was time for a reinstall. It appears that it is beyond repair. If you have anything you do not want to lose, you could boot into the command prompt from the Startup Repair options and manually copy them to DVD if you can still access them.

Re: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.

Hi, the solution does not work for me: I have just one SID folder with .bak. After renaming it (deleting .bak) and setting RefCounter and State to 0, I tried to reboot but I could not login again. After logging as Administrator I found out that the SID folder has again the .bak extension and the State is set to 800 (hex) = 32768 (dec). I tried couple of times with the same result. Any idea? Thanks for help! Standa.

Re: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.

Instead of renaming it try *copying* it so the .bak one is still there as well...

Re: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.

Dint work for me. Are there any "standard" variables for the RefCount and state?? I have both .bak and the one without. I think they the variables are messed up, so I can only start in safe mode. Is there any way to restore to start registry??
Thanks

Re: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.

Hi Dinnsen,

Welcome to Vista Forums.

Did you do step 6 in Option One?

If you did, then see if doing a System Restore using a restore point dated before the problem will fix this problem for you. This tutorial will show you how to if needed.

System Restore - How to

Hope this helps,
Shawn
