| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: Speed up Computer Boot Time This would be a lot better if you gave at least a brief explanations as to what each of these steps is doing to your computer. For example, the 'No GUI Boot' and the sfc /scannow command. |

| Vista Home Premium x64 | Re: Speed up Computer Boot Time Excellent tutorial! Here's my few cents; Ccleaner is capable of nasty evil stuff... NKProds nCleaner is a suitable replacement for ccleaner. Other than cleaning, it has some basic tweaks built-in too. Such as disable indexing, firewall, windows defender and dr watson (if you know what you're doing, and want a faster computer). It also has some other useful tweaks (and not so useful, research stuff before activating blindly). Auslogics Disk Defrag is free, fast and better than the included MS defrag. |

| vista ultimate x64 SP1 | Re: Speed up Computer Boot Time one thing i would add is a description of why a certain thing is beneficial; such as no gui boot and timeout 3 secs |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Speed up Computer Boot Time Hi Methos, The timeout time is how long Vista will wait for you at boot to select a different OS to boot from. Unless you dual boot with say Vista and XP, then this is a unneccessary amount of time to wait. See Option One here for more about this to. Boot Up The no gui boot option is only good for using the Aurora boot screen instead of the default one. However, you must change back and use the default boot screen to be able see what is happening at boot when you run something like chkdsk or the Memory Diagnostic Test at startup. Hope this helps, Shawn |

| Vista Home Premium x64 | Re: Speed up Computer Boot Time I'd say the 30 second wait is totally unnecessary even if you dual boot... Personally I find 3 seconds is enough for me to choose something other than default should I need it. 30 seconds is pretty much the same as no timer at all for me. hehe. |
