Peter,
I believe when you used the split option instead of rebuilding the created image in step 15, that it used some form of coding that will only allow the DVD to be used for installation and not for the Startup Recovery screen options. Shawn |

I got all the way down to burning the ISO file - when I clicked on burn I got a write error (no code). I kept on setting the parameters for Burn but got the same error. I clicked on some command button (I can't remember the exact button I clicked on) that took me to another screen stating it was rebuilding images (I assume the ISO file on my desktop). During this rebuilding process "my" Nero software executed with parameters to burn the ISO file. I exited Vlite after I got a Finish on rebuilding images and executed my Nero burn command and finished the Installation DVD.
The DVD does boot and I get the Windows Vista install screen (that's all the further I went). Thanks. |

Your welcome Tonyolson. I'm glad to hear that you got it to worl for you after that. Sounds like it may have been some sort of conflict with the DVD drive software at first. ??

I'm going to create a SP1 Installation DVD on my Laptop. I just got it to Vista SP1. It (the laptop) has the Home Basic version whereas my desktop (the one I just created the Installation DVD for) has Home Basic Premium.
When I run Vlite I'll see if it's a smooth run through when I try to burn the ISO. I've got to familiarize myself with Vlite. Tony |

Tony,
Vlite is a great program. Once you get use to it, you can make a custom installation DVD that includes all of the drivers and other items as well when installed. Shawn |

quick question or thought. I've read various places that you cannot uninstall IE7 in vista. Maybe able to disable it, but not remove it. Is there a way to remove the install of IE7 when sliptreaming? Vista SP1 upgrades the kernel to the same as Server 2008. Allan |
