Re: Boot Advanced Options - Number of Processors

I've seen in another forum how most people said it didn't help them and that it caused them issues and that it slowed them down too. They said it's already using your full system spec when booting etc by default. Others also said some other stuff too.

I don't have anything checked cept that use 4 cpu option. If it was legit then it would have worked for me and dropped my time a noticable increase in boot speed in my opinion. I don't see how it is possible to work for some and not for others.

Re: Boot Advanced Options - Number of Processors

I do not know why it works for some and not others either. I would imagine that there is somthing causing it to not work properly with some folks. I have seen a clear improve with mine with it set as in the tutorial. I did check the Detect HAL option afterwards to though. You might check it to see if it makes any difference for you.

Re: Boot Advanced Options - Number of Processors

I'll do that and report back.
Does checking the cpu thing mean with it checked it should be much faster then if it's not checked?
What are the other options for?

Re: Boot Advanced Options - Number of Processors

Having the Number of Processors boxed checked with the number of CPUs that you have selected should help it run faster at startup than not checked. The other options are mostly for debugging and should not be used for normal use.

123 without and then 119 with it on. So basically no different as in doesn't work. My opinion.

Re: Boot Advanced Options - Number of Processors

I'm not sure what it would mean if it made a big difference for someone and someone else not much like me. I wonder if that means it is cus I don't have anything in start up or anything like that or if by chance Gateway made my pc a certain way in the setup of the software or something.

Re: Boot Advanced Options - Number of Processors

It would depend on if you used the extra horsepower or not at startup. The extra CPUs can do more at once than a single CPU, so it gets done quicker. If you do not have much running at startup (Ex: Programs or drivers), then it will probably not make to much difference.
