How to Speed Up Firefox

Information
This Tutorial to show people how to let Firefox be up to 1.000.000.000 faster !

We are going to change some configurations on Firefox.
What we are going to change, is the amount of requests firefox sents to a site.
What are we going to do is, change the :

-Network.Http.Pipelining
-Network.Http.Pipelining.maxrequests
-Network.Http.Proxy.Pipelining
NOTE

I didn`t make this Tutorial, i saw on a video on Youtube.
So the Credits go all to Necifix.

Link: YouTube - How to Speed Up Mozilla Firefox up to ONE BILLIONx+ faster!

You messed up try again

Lets get Started:

So, type in about:Config in Firefox and then hit Enter.

After it, check the I will be careful, i promise.

___________________________________

Then search:

-Network.Http.Pipelining

By default on your Firefox, the valor must be False.
Double-Click it to make it true.

NOTE: If you feel dangerous, don`t worry, if you right click it you can set it to default again.

___________________________________
Then Search:

Network.Http.Proxy.Pipelining

By default on your Firefox, the valor must be False.
Double-Click it to make it true.

___________________________________

Then Search:

Network.Http.Pipelining.Maxrequests

So now, you double-click it and choose a valor between 1 - 1.000.000.000 .
(The default is 2 )

WARNING
  VERY IMPORTANT NOTE:
The more you put, the more it uses the bandwith from the site.
If you set one billion, you would be really a pain with the Administrator, and since it is EASY to know who did, you will get banned from that site. So if you want to have Vista Support, don`t do this here. Set it to 150 ( That is a nice number)..

Also, if you set it too high, like 15000 or something like that your Bandwith goes too.

Re: How to let Firefox 1.000.000.000 faster !!!

somehow I doubt this works. However, Someone should check whether it does. Does someone already have any experience with having changed these settings? can any benchmarks be done to show any actual increase in performance?

I do assume that you mean value where you've said valor.

Re: How to let Firefox 1.000.000.000 faster !!!

Well, the requests will be one billion, it doesn`t entirely mean that it will be one billion FASTER, but on my computer, when the page comes, (3 - 4) Seconds, it comes with everything loaded. And that is good, because i`m Brazillian , and we have poor networks here, like 2 MB , or 8 MB. =)

( No, i really meant Valor).

You can try that out..
As i already said, if you Right Click it you can set it as default again.
And if you`re afraid it wont start again, you just:
Start>Run> firefox.exe -safemode-

some combination like that on the - .

Alex.

Re: How to Speed Up Firefox

As I have a 50 mbit synchronous fibre line, I doubt I will see any improvements, if this works at all.
But let me ask you though. Aren't the changes you are talking about included in the readily available firefox plugin "FasterFox"??? For a lot of people it is far easier to impliment the plugin than these changes.

In any case, You may mean Valor, but I do not think that's the correct translation. I might very well be wrong. In my own firefox, which is the Dutch version, it says "waarde". The translation for that, however, is value.

I have tried the changes you propose, and with my internet connection, I do not see any changes. However, maybe on slower internet connections there might be a difference.

I would like to point people to the warning though. Setting it to a high number (like 1 billion) will probably get site administrators angry with you, which will result in IP bans. Meaning that you might never be able to get on that site again. Just be careful with setting that number too high.

Re: How to Speed Up Firefox

I said on the topic, what you said on your warning
And on my firefox, it is valor xD they must have been wrong translated.

There would be no difference on your network, but in mine it would.

The thing is, with those High Values, the page comes with everything already downloaded, and that is the good thing for me. ( So i have to wait only 4 seconds, and i have everything ).

Re: Firefox Speed Increase

Thanks AlexRD I set the Network.Http.Pipelining.Maxrequests 150 and thought that was ok then I set it to 200 and the webpages load even better.

Re: Firefox Speed Increase

I also found that since I don't us IPv6, and from what I've noticed, a lot of others don't either.

network.dns.disableIPv6 Is False. Setting it to True may increase speed as well. Even if nothing more than knocking off it trying to go through 6 before it tries 4.

I'm not sure, but it's a suggestion. Would it help at all?

Re: Firefox Speed Increase

I read a tutorial on this subject on a different site and I remember it stating that increasing the value of 'Network.Http.Pipelining.Maxrequests' to anything higher than 8 won't make a difference as Firefox can only hand 8 requests or whatever they are.

I've been trying to find this article for the past 10 minutes but I remember it was something like 'The Truth about ...'.

Anyway, I might be wrong, but great article.
