How to Install Virtual PC 2007 Virtual Machine Additions

Information
This will show you how to install the Virtual Machine Additions and setup a shared folder in Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 SP1. The Shared folder will allow you to easily share files between the guest (virtual machine) and host (your computer) operating systems.
NOTE
The Virtual Machine Additions is a set of features that improve integration of the host and the guest operating systems. It also provides features like drag and drop between the host and guest operating systems.
WARNING
You will need to have Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 SP1 installed, and have already created a virtual machine that you want to install the Virtual Machine Additions on.

10. In your current host operating system (not virtual machine guest OS), create a new folder at a location of your choice to be the shared folder between the host and guest operating systems.
NOTE: For example, I created a new folder named Share Folder at C:\Users\(user-name)\Documents.

11. On the menu bar in the running virtual machine, click on Edit and Settings. (See screenshot below)
step8.jpg
12. In the left pane select Shared Folders, then click on the Share Folder button in the right pane. (See screenshot below)
step9.jpg
13. Navigate to and select the new folder (ex: Share Folder) from step 10 above, then check the Share every time box. Select a drive letter that is not being used, and click on OK. (See screenshot below)
step10.jpg
14. Click on OK. (See screenshot below)
step11.jpg
15. In the virtual machine still, open the Start Menu and click on Computer. After a moment, you will see your shared folder under Network Location. (See screenshot below)
step12.jpg
16. You can now place files from either this folder's location on your computer from step 10 above, or in Computer in the virtual machine. The files will then be available for you to copy or do with what you please at both locations.
That's it,
Shawn
