Re: Windows Mail problems

Lisa,

This error is usually caused by a incompatible security program, especially if it has a email scanning option. A clean install should clear this problem completely. Are you reinstalling any security program that may be incompatible? Is it doing this as soon as boots into Vista the first time after reinstalling?

Re: Windows Mail problems

Yeah it starts up as soon as i log in to vista.
I have no security programs downloaded on my computer yet... i just did a full reinstall and the problem is still there
Would the vista own security be causing a problem?

Re: Windows Mail problems

Lisa,

A full hard drive format and reinstall should of fixed the problem.

Go to this site and do a free scan to make sure that this is not a virus. Click on the Free scan link.

Re: Windows Mail problems

Lisa,

If formatting the hard drive and a clean install with nothing else installed still has this problem, then I'm stumped.

I do not know what else could be causing it. This is strange indeed. You might repost this question in the General Discussion forum and Vista Mail Newsgroup to see if someone else may have experienced the same thing and found a solution. Please share if you find one. I hope you find one soon.

Re: Windows Mail problems

Hi I have just downloaded AVG and after reading your post have sorted the problem i was having with windows mail, After choosing the custom option and not installing the email scanner it now works fine, however does this mean that i am not protected against email virus or does windows mail have something built in many thanks.

Re: Windows Mail problems

Hi Nick,

Welcome to Vista Forums.

You will still be protected. The email scanning option is just a redundant feature for extra protection. Unfortunately, Windows Mail is very sensitive to corruption from these email scanners. The main real time system scanner part of AVG's antivirus program will help keep your system from getting a virus.
