Re: Windows Mail problems

Hi Shawn,

Thanks for the reply and it seems it was around the 2007 version they had a lot of complaints from users who had just changed to Vista and they put out a lot of patches until they came up with a definite permanent fix and now seems that they put this patch in the 2008 version but my 2005 version had numerous problems with XP and a friend of mine had Trend and it hates Vista and she's now changed her Internet Security to Norton 2008 after I told her mine was working well and touch wood she's not had any problems since.
Thanks for your brilliant tutorials and I definitely will come back here if I get any problems with Vista, swear it's more glitches than XP ever had.

Re: Windows Mail problems

Every time I receive a mail sent from a Mac computer, I get an error on opening it in Windows Mail running on Vista. Sometimes its a Syntax error and refers to a specific line, other times its an Object Expected error, also directing me to a specific line.
The error box asks me if I want to continue running scripts on this page.
So I can get past this error by clicking Yes, or just clicking the X box at the top, however it is extremely frustrating and would appreciate any assistance to overcome this problem.
Also I have noticed that some of these incoming mails are automatically directed to my Spam folder where I stand the chance of deleting important messages.
Help!!!!!

Re: Windows Mail problems

Hi Brian,

If you do not mind plain text email messages, you can click Tools, Options, Read tab, then check Read all messages in plain text.

If you prefer to not have just plain text email messages, then you can click Tools, Options, Security tab. Next dot Internet Zone, uncheck Do not allow attachments... , and uncheck Block images and other... .

For the spam filter, you can right click on the message and click Junk E-Mail and Add Sender to the Safe Senders List. This should keep that sender's email messages from going into the junk filter.

I hope this helps,
Shawn

Re: Windows Mail problems

Hi Shawn, thanks for the quick response.

The switch to Text only certainly works, but it is no good for me. I need the html read option.

The other suggestion has not helped.

I have repeatedly marked these messages as safe, but still they come to the Spam folder and they are in red!!

Do you have any more suggestions?

Thanks and regards

Re: Windows Mail problems

Brian,

Are you using any other email filtering program from say a antivirus program? 3rd party programs usually do not work well with Windows Mail (WM).

Another option is to download the free Windows Live Mail (WLM) to see how it runs with this. You can run both WM and WLM, or just keep one. If it does not work, then you can just uninstall it without losing Windows Mail and how you have it setup.

Windows Live Suite Downloads

Re: Windows Mail problems

Shawn, I loaded Windows Live Mail and am afraid it has not helped.

I am running AVG version 7.5 but when I switch it off, it does not help.

I should have mentioned that at the top of the error message it states "Internet Explorer Script Error". Does this help to identify the problem?

I hope you can help, I am not sure where else to get help.

Regards

Re: Windows Mail problems

Brian,

That's ok. I'm glad that you were able to fix your problem. What was the setting that you changed for others that may have the same problem?

Re: Windows Mail problems

Hi Shawn, in the Security Setting Internet Zone, I enabled the 'scripting' option.

Trouble is the system has now lost some functionality with web sites, for instance I can key in my details to my bank, but when I click on Go, it does nothing.

I am now trying the 'prompt' option.

Thanks again for your help.

Re: Windows Mail problems

Brain,

If it loses to much function, you can hit the Reset button in those options to go back to the default settings for the Internet Zone.
