| Vista | Re: Power Options and Sleep Mode Problems First of all this is a great forum and resource for Vista issues...I have learned a lot. No here's my problem: My home PC used to sleep and wake up perfectly. Then after a few months it started not sleeping and I had to go back to restore points....no hardware was ever changed. Sometime it would not sleep, and other times it would not wake up the video card...never the same. Finally I decided to load SP1. I kept getting stop errors until I reloaded Vista and then SP1 finally worked. I have an Asus M2E MB with an ATI X1650 Video Card....all with the latest drivers. The PC will sleep just fine but when it wakes up the monitor will kick on, but with a black screen everytime and I have to hard boot. I have gone through the tutorial (which is excellent) at the beginning of this thead in detail. I suspect it is a video card setting of some sort. I don't have any restore points where it ever worked. Aside from buying another video card....does anybody have any other suggestions? You cannot imagine how many hours I have spent trying to fix this issue...thanks! |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Power Options and Sleep Mode Problems Hi GB1099, Welcome to Vista Forums. ![]() Since it is a ATI card, you might try uninstalling the video drivers and reinstall them without the CCC (Catalyst Control Center) option. I have heard of this causing problems on some computers. Maybe it is for you. Hope this helps, Shawn |

| Vista | Re: Power Options and Sleep Mode Problems Thanks for the suggestion...I uninstalled the ATI driver and manually reinstalled without using Catalyst...but unfortunately the same result. ![]() PC will sleep, and awake, but the video is nothing but a black screen. If you can think of anything else...Please let me know and I'll give it a shot. |

Click on the Ease of Access Center icon. 3. Click on the Make the computer easier to see link. 4. Uncheck the Remove background images (where available) box. 5. Click Save. Hope this helps, Shawn |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Power Options and Sleep Mode Problems LOL, GB1099 If I happened to be in the neighborhood I would, but I'm a good hour or more north of you and my bu** is dragging today. ![]() Don't be , but just scroll down a bit and you will see it as the last item to uncheck. ![]() Shawn |

| Vista | Re: Power Options and Sleep Mode Problems I guess I didn't bother to scroll down....it was late and I didn't see it...LOL. Anyway it already was unchecked.....but good try anyway. I would just go get another video card, but I know this one works with Vista and sleep mode. This is the last Vista "issue" I have (at this point) and while many or most people bash the OS...I really like it. |
