| Administrator | Re: System Files - SFC Command Hi dwicker, Welcome to Vista Forums. ![]() At the top of the tutorial there is a link in the To Read CBS Log File section that will show you how to read it without getting the access denied message. Usually if SFC cannot fix it, you will have to do a System Restore, Repair install, or complete reinstall though. Hope this helps, Shawn |

| Administrator | Re: System Files - SFC Command David, Yeah, that CBS file is huge. I like using the method at the top of the tutorial so all you would have to read through is just the logs specifically for SFC. Unfortunately, if SFC and CHKDSK cannot fix it, then the more drastic measures usually have to be taken. Shawn |

| Master | Re: System Files - SFC Command HI John, Outlook email will also need to be backed up. Different program but still have to back it up. If your referring to Outlook 97/2000/2002/2003/2007 then save your mailbox as a .pst file and you should be ok. Raj |

| Administrator | Re: System Files - SFC Command Hi David, Since you have the SP1 installed, you will not be able run a Repair install from a Vista installation DVD. I hunted the net with Google and found nothing that really helped. I would suggest running a System Restore using a restore point dated before the problem began. You can see how to here if needed. System Restore If the System Restore does not help, or did not go back far enough, this will show you how to undo it. System Restore - undo Hope this helps you, Shawn |
