Re: Administrator Account

You can also activate the Administrator account by right clicking My Computer on the desktop and selecting manage. Double click Local Users and Groups - Users in left pane. In middle pane there should be 3 accounts, Administrator, Guest, and the one you created when installing Windows. Right click Administrator, select Properties and uncheck Account is disabled.

Re: Administrator Account

Hi Ray, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Thank you for the tip. Local Users and Groups is not available in the Vista Home Basic and Home Premium editions though.

No, It wont work sadly

If you are looking for a way to get into vista, make a password recovery disk in a USB thumb drive and boot of it. Thats what I do. Its easier than carrying installation CDs so you can recover anytime, anywhere unless the computer wont let you boot of USB (very unlikely though)

Re: Administrator Account

Hi Tanuj,

As Fmjc001 posted, it will not work. You can only enable the built-in Administrator account while logged into an administrator account. This is a security feature to keep anyone without an administrator account on your computer from doing this and doing unthinkable things to your computer.

Sorry,
Shawn

Re: Administrator Account

Hi GUImonster, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Could you post back more details on what you mean by it not being a full admin. account?

After enabling the built-in Administrator account, did you log off from your current account and log on to the built-in Administrator account?

Re: Administrator Account

Oh, ok. That is something completely different.

This tutorial will show you how to enable the Task Manager again. Be warned though. This is usually caused by some form of malware. You might run a full antivirus and spyware scan to be safe.

Task Manager - Enable or Disable

For a free great anti-spyware program, you might run Spybot Search & Destroy.

Hope this helps,
