| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Administrator Account You will have to have someone that does have an administrator account do it for you if they want to give you full access to the computer. Otherwise it is not possible without reinstalling Vista. The only other way is to boot into Safe Mode if there is not any administrator user accounts on the computer. If someone (parent) does have one, this will not work. Sorry, ![]() Shawn |

| Vita Home Premium | Re: Administrator Account I tried the CMD prompt then Run as Administrator it still did not work. Some applications do not run because I do not have Admin. rights . |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Administrator Account Hello MAtrix, and welcome to Vista Forums. As a test, enable the built-in Administrator account and see how the applications run while logged on to it. This account has full access. Be sure to read the warning though at the link. Hope this helps, Shawn |

| Vista x64 Ultimate | Re: Administrator Account Hi, I've read through the 17 pages here and have a some of questions. 1) Is there a way to give full Admin privileges to another account? When I initialy installed Vista, I created only 1 user account and gave that account admin rights. But now (after 1 week of Vista use) I'm having issues installing some programs. Which is strange as I can install some programs, but not all programs. How do I correct that? 2) I've enabled the 'true' admin account, but would like to copy the desktop from my other account since I've already installed a bunch of programs and they're not showing up on the desktop. Can you copy one desktop to another? 3) If it's possible to give an account full admin rights (ie installing/uninstalling programs, access to all folders etc etc), can I just disable the 'true' admin account and go back to automatic logging on at startup without having to choose an account? Thanks for the help! |

Thanks for the help! Good Luck. (UAC can be disabled from the user accounts section in the control panel. I do not recommend it, but its a solution.) You could also set the prompts to elevate without prompting or auto approve admin but there is no point using UAC if you do that. Just disable it. |

| Vista 32 Ultimate | Hi, I enabled the admin acct. and used it for awhile, then disabled it. I moved everything I wanted out of it. When exploring C: Users it is still there along with the other users. Can I delete this admin user? Can I enable it again and if so, will it be the same account? If I do reenable it will it use the same EFS cert.? Can I then delete it in control panel "user accounts" first then disable it? Thanks LP Oh yea it works real well! |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Administrator Account Hi Lenny, Normally you would delete the C:\Users\(User Name) folder after deleting a normal user account, but for the built-in Administrator account you would just leave the C:\Users\Administrator folder as is after disabling it. It will still be the same account with all the same settings the next time you enable it. Hope this helps, Shawn |
